Recommending Skeal is a tough job because the absolute best experience is to go in with zero idea of what to expect.
— Philippa Warr, PC Gamer

What is Skeal? Honestly, it's best if I don't tell you. Trust me on this. But I do hope you'll give it a look, because to my unending surprise, it's brought a whole lot of people a few moments of joy.

Part of the pleasure (not the mention the power and the pain) is seeing that joke unfold for yourself so I’ll simply say: Skeal is a free skiing game that will take you three minutes and should leave you grinning from elven ear to elven ear.
— Alice O'Connor, Rock Paper Shotgun

Skeal is a clunky, short, single-joke game, and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. But it made people laugh, and some of those people told their friends.

And then Rock, Paper, Shotgun wrote an article about it.

And then a few years later it declared Skeal "a Christmas tradition."

And then PC Gamer named it one the top 50 best free PC games in 2018.

Skeal is the micro-hit I never expected to have. Most importantly, it proved to me that sometimes there's a ton of value to be found in following those weird little creative instincts we all get sometimes. I followed it heedlessly and with total abandon, and I crunched through the game in the span of a single weekend. The result is a raw, focused, and rather confident experiment in paying tribute to a song you just can't get out of your head.

Anyway, here's where you can play it:

To learn more about the inspiration behind Skeal, go play Room of 1000 Snakes. It's a stroke of genius, the strongest source of inspiration behind Skeal, and—as far as I'm concerned—a perfect game.
